To register to vote you must complete a voter registration card and
present this card to the Board of Elections or a designated location 30
days prior to the election the person first wishes to vote. No ID is
required to register to vote in person. However, if you register to vote
by mail, according to Section 303 of H.R. 3295, the Help America Vote
Act of 2002; you are
1. required to submit with your voter registration the appropriate
documentary proof of
identity, specified as follows:
a copy of a current and valid photo identification or a current utility
bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck,
or check, paycheck, or government
document
that shows the name and address of the voter; or
2. provided with the voter's registration application one of the
following:
a. the number of the applicant's current and valid drivers license, or
b. the last four digits of the applicant's social security number, or
c. if the applicant does not have a driver's license or social security
number, a
state
assigned unique voter ID number, or
3. is entitled to vote under the
UOCAVA (requires use of the Federal
Postcard
Application), or
4. is entitled to vote under the
Voting Accessibility for the Elderly
and Handicapped
ACT
(VAEHA)
