To register to vote you must complete a voter registration card and present this card to the Board of Elections or a designated location 30 days prior to the election the person first wishes to vote. No ID is required to register to vote in person. However, if you register to vote by mail, according to Section 303 of H.R. 3295, the Help America Vote Act of 2002; you are 
 

1. required to submit with your voter registration the appropriate documentary proof of
    identity, specified as follows:
    a copy of a current and valid photo identification or a current utility bill, bank
    statement, government check, paycheck, or check, paycheck, or government document

    that shows the name and address of the voter; or
 

2. provided with the voter's registration application one of the following:
   a. the number of the applicant's current and valid drivers license, or
   b. the last four digits of the applicant's social security number, or
   c. if the applicant does not have a driver's license or social security number, a state

       assigned unique voter ID number, or
 

3. is entitled to vote under the UOCAVA (requires use of the Federal Postcard
    Application), or
 

4. is entitled to vote under the Voting Accessibility for the Elderly and Handicapped ACT

    (VAEHA)

CHANGES OF NAME
To register a change of name with the Board of Elections you will need to submit a written request. This request must include your old name, your address, your birthdate, and the new name. In addition you will need to sign your old and new name. This information can be submitted on any paper or postcard. 

CHANGES OF ADDRESS
If you have moved from your current place of residence you must register that change with the Board of Elections.

 
Case One: Moving within the County If you are already living and registered in Hancock County and you move to another location in Hancock County you must submit a written notification to the Board of Elections. This can be accomplished by providing our office with the name(s) of the voter(s) that have moved, the signature and the date they moved. There is no official form required as long as this information is provided. This cannot be done over the phone. 
 

Case Two: Moving into the County You must re-register to vote if you move into Hancock County. You will be considered a new registration even if you have already been registered in Ohio or any other state. If you provide our office with your previous address we will notify your former voting district to cancel your old registration. 
 

Case Three: Moving out of the County You must re-register to vote if you move out of Hancock County. You will be considered a new registration in your new county or state. The new voting location should notify our office of your new residence and you will be removed from the Hancock County voting list.

If you have moved Out Of Hancock County or wish to be removed from our registration Database, please Fill Out And print form and mail individual copies for each person in your family, Who Wishes To Be Removed to the Hancock County Board of Elections.
